U.S. Senator Joe Biden of Delaware is very much a conservative Democrat but he is a Democrat. Is that why he can boast to Southerners that his home State was a slave State that would have joined the Confederacy if it could?

Had he been anyone but a Democrat politician, his remarks would have been condemned in the media from coast to coast. But what do we in fact hear? An almost complete coverup. Compare the constant media hammering given to Senator Allen over his use of a nonsense word that happened to mean something bad in French. And what about the pummelling Senator Trent Lott got for his gracious salute to the aged Strom Thurmond?
