Must not speak ill of Leftist politicians????
Maybe I am missing something because I am not American but I cannot understand Taranto's current column at all. Taranto is much given to subtle humor so maybe I am simply missing the satire but to me he sounds completely serious in saying that GOP voters must not mention Obama's middle name or call him a "socialist", a "terrorist" or a "liar". To do so is "hate" and makes one a member of the "Angry Right" -- according to Taranto -- and damages McCain's chances of being elected.
I am quite dumbfounded. There is practically NO accusation that the Left of American politics do not routinely hurl at conservatives. Why must conservatives be held to an enormously higher standard of behavior? And that Obama's second name is "Hussein", that he is a socialist and a liar are simply the plain truth. Is even the truth banned if it is "negative"?
Not long ago Australia had a Leftist Prime Minister (Keating) who would often describe opponents as a "piece of slime" and the like so maybe Australan politics are simply more robust than American politics but when I think of the encyclopedia of abuse and accusation that has been hurled at the mild and moderate G.W. Bush by just about everyone to the Left of him, I find that hard to believe.
My take is that conservatives have been too polite for too long and that the Left are overdue for a taste of their own medicine. And I don't believe the Leftist claims that they are "shocked" or "scared" by the hostility to Obama. Such claims are just another attempt to suppress criticism.
Trying to muzzle criticism is of course routine for the Left but for someone like Taranto to assist in that is truly deplorable.

You're right on target Jon. One of the main reasons the Republicans no longer control any part of the US govt. (and will not again for a long, long time) is because of their weakness and complete inability to understand that when dealing with the Left, "playing by the rules and being polite" will simply guarantee your loss!
The only way to fight the Left, (ie: the Demoncrats, media, Commiewood, etc.) is to use their tactics, something those on the Right (well, certainly not all of us) apparently lack the will to do.
Even a 10 year old kid knows, if you're the only one on the field playing by the rules, the outcome of the contest is pretty much a forgone conclusion. You lose!
Here in America we have for a long time just used initials to reference a politician. So we went from JFK to LBJ, then to RMN, Gerald Ford was only around for two years so he got nothing, but he was followed by JC (the other one!), and then RR, followed by GW, then came BC, and another GW.
Now since it is racist to call Barack Obama by his middle name, we can just call him the big B.O.

They might want to call it "Hate Speech", but there is an old saying--"TRUTH HURTS!"
Then if they win the presidency they're really gonna flip when I start referring to him as President O'Bummer
Of course McCain hiumself is now campaigning for Obama, calling him an honest and trustworthy man, denying he has links with terrorists and leftist extremists...
I guess he wants to loose, maybe thinking "let Obama try and fail to solve the economic trouble, and in a few years they'll elect Republicans out of desperation", forgetting that when Obama gets into the White House with a dhimmy congress at his back there won't be another election cycle, only secret police rounding up anyone who's in any way less than positive about the Obamessiah.
When Obama wins, there won’t be any secret police!!! Obama will still have to deal with the police and military that exist. And can anyone see him arresting around 50 million people? How would he feed and house them. And if he started having them killed, then the word would get out and it would be a war between liberals and conservatives. And remember that Liberals don’t like guns, and hate hunting and don’t believe in self defense. While conservatives are just the opposite.
So who would win?

The current government got rid of 5,000 blacks after Katrina by shooting them in the head and burying their bodies in a Louisiana swamp.
That's the gospel according to a former Congresswoman.
So Obama could do the very same except on a higher scale.
After all he is The Messiah!
Mobuis, liberals and conservatives have been at war for decades! The prize? The American society, the minds of America's young, (ala Karl Marx) and above all, control of the US Supreme Court!
And in Nov. we'll find that the Left has won because America has become a nation of weak, mindless, sheep, perfect subjects for the Left. Need proof? Just look at the choices they have for a leader.
An interesting tie-in I remember from Socionomics, tied into the Elliot Wave Theory - a growing negative social mood that accompanies a bear market also tends to increase negativism in politics. And actions by one faction in politics tends to generate a backlash by its opposition in an equally nasty mood. It may not be a surprise if conservatives do wake up and start treating Leftists as the enemy in war.
