Britain to censor ADULT access to porn

The do-gooders usually say that censorship of porn is "for the children" but Left-run Britain seems to feel no need for that pretence.
"To some people it is exactly the kind of protective legislation that Britain needs in a world where access to a vast array of pornography is available at the click of a mouse. To others, a new law banning "extreme" pornography gives the Government unprecedented powers to police bedrooms (and basements).

Critics, including at least two lords, say that legislation coming into force next month forbidding the possession of "an extreme pornographic image" will criminalise thousands of previously law-abiding people who have a harmless taste for unconventional sex."

There was a time when Leftists were vigorous defenders of porn but when some of that lovely CONTROL is within their reach all that is forgotten

What is an "extreme pornographic image", and who will decide? If they're talking about sites that depict child porn, then i'm all for it. But we know that's not the only thing they mean. It's for socialist control-freaks like the people pushing this crap that the phrase slippery slope was coined.

leftists have always tried to control pornography when they were in power.
I travelled to communist countries regularly in the 1980s, travel papers always warned about that.
And not just Playboy could get you into prison there, underwear advertising in women's magazines was considered pornographic and could get you into serious trouble in the USSR.

Somebody needs to pop a few caps into these power-mad Leftists to give them a healthy fear of the people they are trying to oppress arbitrarily. They should get frequent reminders that attempts to impose tyranny could very easily cost them their lives.

in the UK it won't cost them anything...
There are no people left with the guts and guns to oppose them (and the same is true for the entire continent) after centuries of pussification.

There are people who might do it, if there were a reasonable chance of success, but they're too few and spread too far to work together (and lack the means anyway).

From the article:
Section 63 of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 comes into force on 26 January and makes owning offending pictures a criminal offence punishable by up to three years' imprisonment. An image is deemed to be extreme if it "is grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character" and portrays in any way an act which threatens a person's life, or which results or appears likely to result in serious injury to someone's genitals or breasts.

So the iconic scene from the James Bond flick "Goldfinger" would be banned and be made illegal in England?

With the way that's worded, you could go to jail for showing a picture of your dog to the wrong person!

No, because in that scene the girl is already dead.
Had she died during the scene, it probably might have been illegal, though the depiction is IMO neither obscene nor offensive nor disgusting (but of course such vague definitions in a legal text mean that nothing is safe (like some laws here that state something to be legal "unless it is determined to be inappropriate".

I think the actual iconic scene referred to is when Mr. Bond is strapped to a slab of metal, the metal-cutting laser turned on, the slab slowly starts moving into the laser, with Bond's crotch being the first part of his body in line to be hit by the laser, and he asks, "Do you expect me to talk?", and Goldfinger responds, "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die."

Robert,

That is the scene I was referring to. I even included a link to a picture of the scene.

Thanks for helping make the point.
