That three-letter word offensive?

We read:
"An advertising billboard that screams 'Want Longer Lasting Sex?' has prompted a barrage of complaints. Almost 200 hoardings in bold red on yellow print have appeared in and around London. One, with the word 'sex' in lettering twice as high as the rest of the advert, is within a few hundred metres of a large supermarket. The adverts will soon be rolled out across the UK.

Last night the Advertising Standards Authority said it had launched a formal investigation into the campaign, which has provoked 249 complaints in eight days. A large number of parents are said to be among those who have taken offence to the 196 billboards from the company - which treats erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation.

Despite the watchdog investigation, AMI, which has only recently opened a clinic in London, has not been ordered to take the billboards down. The result of the probe will not be known until the New Year. On its website, the company boasts of having treated 'well over 300,000 men'.

The word is not normally censored and it is extremely widely used elsewhere. So is this a sign of a new forbidden word?

No, it's not a sign of a new forbidden word, but it is a sign of something worse. SELECTIVE CENSORSHIP! And of course, it would come from socialist Britain.

"it would come from socialist Britain"

Of course there are no cases of PC madness in the imploding United States of America. The many cases reported on this site must be referring to another country. And of course all non-US countries are "socialist" by definition.

Anon3, the US is no better than Britain when it comes to PC'ism, but the topic (sign) happens to be in Britain. And all non-US countries are not socialist, but the UK certainly is.

The UK is only "socialist" by your comparison with the US maybe. However, the "New Labour" party in power since Blair is famous/notorious for it's virtually conservative laissez-faire politics. But now even the US has to semi-nationalize banks and other institutions coz capitalism has gone too far with it's "freedom" aka. irresponsibility!

Read the small print on the billboard. It addresses nasal congestion. I'm guessing these people are selling a connection between breathing clearly and having energy for other activities.

I'd hate to think what else nasal could refer to.
