"Racist" to urge assimilation

Only a few decades ago, most governments worldwide expected immigrants to assimilate to the customs of the new country. There was even a proverb about it: "When in Rome do as the Romans do". People who still see such policies as reasonable are however "racist" these days. The following story is from Australia
"The daughter of swimming legend Dawn Fraser is investigating how a racist email urging immigrants to leave if they fail to assimilate was circulated from her address

The email begins with a rant that Sydney residents had failed to erect Christmas lights so as not to offend other cultures and has details of a Muslim woman being allowed to have her driver's licence photograph taken despite religious dress obscuring her face.

It said multiculturalism has "diluted" Australia's "national identity" and urges recipients to forward the chain email. "If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like 'A Fair Go,' then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet," it reads. "We are happy with our culture."

Being happy with your own culture and not wanting it disrupted is a terrible sin these days -- but only if you are white, of course.

It's very refreshing to see some Aussies standing up for their nation and it's culture, but it may be a bit too late. Once those immigration floodgates have been opened, that's it! For a perfect example of what i'm saying, just look at Amerika.

Today, and in many countries, the word "racism" is the magic key that will open almost any/every door, especially for those would wouldn't normally have the ability/right to go through that door.

That you are expected to assimilate into a country you decide to move to, was an international understanding, until that is, some governments who are rushing head-long into socialism, (Britain, France, The US,) decided to turn that policy/understanding around, even (and especially) if it pertains to people entering those countries illegally. We are clearly being pushed into a "one country world"!

I'm retired U.S. Air Force. I spent many years in Korea and when I went to areas where the GIs didn't I was expected to have a rudimentary understanding of the language. Many people in that country understand some english and would help me to get around. But it was up to me to make the effort to learn their language. I did okay and now have friends for life there. If anyone comes to this country, I would expect no less.

Anon-2, you would expect no less because you're obviously an intelligent, rational person. Unfortunately, your govt. and the leftists who control it think differently. In fact, their thoughts are completely opposite from yours.

BTW, thank you for your service to our country.

Today, and in many countries, the word "racism" is the magic key that will open almost any/every door...

At least until we wake up to the fact that "racist" is a communist code word to the effect of "STOP! You're getting too close to the unwanted truth!" And wake up to realize the phony-baloney definitions of other communist code words, and start to disregard them. A good place to start would be to publicly state what those code words really mean when confronted with one. Exposing the absurdity of the meanings of the code words would go a long way toward nullifying the dishonesty.
