Idiot pols propose to let president "shut down" Internet

We read:
"A recently proposed but little-noticed Senate bill would allow the federal government to shut down the Internet in times of declared emergency, and enables unprecedented federal oversight of private network administration. The bill's draft states that `the president may order a cybersecurity emergency and order the limitation or shutdown of Internet traffic' and would give the government ongoing access to `all relevant data concerning (critical infrastructure) networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access.'

Authored by Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia and Republican Olympia Snowe of Maine, the Cybersecurity Act of 2009 seeks to create a Cybersecurity Czar to centralize power now held by the Pentagon, National Security Agency, Department of Commerce and the Department of Homeland Security."

Wait a minute! Where the hell is the outcry about this?

Liberals and even a good number of Republicans damned near wetted themselves when it was announced by the Bush Administration that there was going to be the Patriot Act.

People said that 1984 would happen with that act. So why not now? Why aren't people running in the streets, screaming that Big Brother is trying to restrict their freedoms? I've heard claims like that about Bush for the last eight years by liberals. I don't hear much about this now. And that sounds pretty damn scary to me if that's the case.

Besides, as much as I hate MySpace and Facebook, the fact is, people would probably use them, including e-mail, to try to contact people in case of a national emergency.

WTF??? Shutting down communication is obviously the solution to an emergency...

But seriously, Obama and 'BO' are getting the majority of the press coverage.

Comm shut downs and nationwide tax protests??? no big deal apparently.

controlling communications is vital to establishing control over the thoughts and emotions of the proletariat.

All during the Bush administration the left was screaming that Bush would use the powers he received to make himself into tyrant wielding absolute authority and ruthless control.

They made those complaints not because there was any evidence that GWB was planning anything of the sort but because that's exactly what they would have done if they were the person with that kind of power.

Now they they have someone they like in that position they are setting the stage for that absolute takeover.

The left proves over and over that they cannot be trusted.
