"Loser" a risky word

We read:
"A Columbus, Ohio, teacher who wrote "loser" on a student's arm has resigned two days before she was due to face a disciplinary hearing on the matter.

Ms Butterfield, 28, said the 8-year-old boy found it funny when she wrote "loser" on his arm in orange washable marker.

Her account of the incident indicated that at no time did the child take her seriously. He left school that day with the word still on his arm.

Ms Butterfield's lawyer said she never meant to harm the student and now realised the joke was ill-conceived.

Not only has political correctness changed how we speak, think, and act, it has also made having a sense of humor something bad. What a sad commentary on a nation of weak, mindless, pathetic sheep.

I really think we should let nature take its course. While there may be some humor in this, the fact is that a teacher did something REALLY stupid without thinking it through. Let her get fired and use it as a deterrent to other teachers.

We HAVE to start bringing personal responsibility and accountability back to the forefront of conduct. The ONLY way this can happen is if we actually start enforcing laws that cause people to become more accountable for their actions.

Yep - in the founding land of PC-ism - so what do you expect!

You're right Anon 2:40. We should demand that teachers be as perfect as we are!

When we start making some of the stupid things we do illegal, then we had all better keep our lawyers number handy...

Anon 3:56, nobody is demanding perfection. Anon 2:40 wrote of personal responsibility and accountability. Nothing at all wrong with those concepts, unless you are a leftist.

But, in this case, the child was only 8 years old! By any reasonable measure, this was not a good idea.

What would be reasonable discipline? Firing might be a bit harsh, but we don't know what would have happened because the teacher quit first.

I think JR missed the boat on this one. I don't see where writing something on another person's body, let alone an eight year old child's, is a free speech issue.

Usually, it's the adults who get the joke and the 8-year olds who don't.

But in this case, other than the teacher, the adults appear not to have got it at all, tho the 8-year old did.

They should have made the teacher walk around with "Loser" on her arm for a week. No long sleeves allowed.

Anon 4:53 AM, you are correct. I'm not asking for perfection, I'm asking for people to stop and think before they act. I'm asking that people be held accountable for their actions. Has absolutely nothing to do with perfection.

The Rock says that The Rock agrees with stinky. Some adults appear to not have got it at all. Probably one more than stinky realizes.
