Outspoken German banker in hot water

We read:
"Immigrants are making Germany 'dumber', according to a board member of the country's central bank. Thilo Sarrazin claimed the 'limited education' of immigrants - coupled with their high birth rate - meant Germans 'are becoming dumber in a simple way'. He said: 'There's a difference in the reproduction of population groups with varying intelligence.'

It is not the first time the 65-year-old member of the Bundesbank has caused controversy since he joined last year.

In October he described Muslim children as 'underclass' citizens. 'I don't have to accept someone who lives off a state they reject, doesn't properly take care of the education of his children-and keeps producing more little girls in headscarves,' Mr Sarrazin said.

'That goes for 70 percent of the Turkish and 90 percent of the Arabic population of Berlin.' He added that they were not fit for much other than 'fruit and vegetable selling'.

In his latest speech this week he said there were 'ample statistics' proving he was correct about German intelligence.

Mr Sarrazin, who was previously Germany's finance minister, has not yet apologised. It is thought his position at the Bundesbank may now be untenable.

But among conservatives in Germany his comments have struck a chord. They have voiced concern that the country's three million Turks tend to live in their own communities, socialise among each other and have little in common with their German neighbours.

Herr Sarrazin is perfectly correct. All the statistics show that Arabs and Iranians have average IQs of around 85 with Turkey only slightly better on 90. Western Europeans hover around 100. Check Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Iran and Turkey in this table of academic research findings

Being CORRECT doesn't necessarily make you RIGHT in the eyes of the Politically Correct Gestapo!

Bobby,

Yea, sometimes a high I.Q. blurs the mental process.

Wow, good thing that you guys don't have a high I.Q.

There are different kinds of "intelligence" even in the same person.

Which is easier? Keeping track of lies? Or remembering the truth?

Liars tend to be caught because it's much harder to keep track of the lies than remembering the truth.

Likewise, it's much harder to build an alternate reality (even a beautiful one like "we can create heaven on earth if we just do x, y, and z") than to stick to the real one. When evidence is discovered which contradicts the vision, it takes much more brain strain to force the evidence to fit the fantasy than to adjust the mental maps to fit the evidence.

I haven't read it yet, but I understand Thomas Sowell does an excellent job at examining this phenomenon in Intellectuals and Society.

I thought Luke was religious - here he's using an argument that could be applied against the religious mindset, which prefers a wishful-thinking world-view that would (and does) in consequence deny or avoid hard evidence to the contrary. Not saying Luke is a deliberate liar just a victim of that religious mentality.

It would truly be sad if Mr Sarrazin apologizes for simply telling the truth, a truth that everyone knows to be factual. If he does, it is more proof of how destructive, oppressive, and dangerous political correctness and socialism are to so-called free societies. There is no freedom under PC and socialism, only the freedom to do as you're told by "the enlightened ones" of the Left who somehow always seem to know what's best for everyone.

There is only one word needed to describe all this. Ironically, it's the same word that describes the true motive behind "everything" the Left does and says. It's all about, CONTROL!

---High IQ doesn't mean anything, let me quote:
"It is rumoured that the mafia leader Al Capone had an IQ of 200. An example of a criminal with a verified exceptional intelligence (IQ 170, at age 10) is the Unabomber Theodore Kaczynski. He was a successful researcher in mathematics before he turned against the society. Other famous high IQ scorers among the criminals are Richard Loeb (child iq 160) and Nathan Leopold (child iq 210) at the beginning of the 20th century."

Besides, why should Germans not become dumb? They live in a country where they get free healthcare, generous pensions, free education and lots of other goodies. When the government gives you everything and taxes you to the max, where's the incentive to do anything?

"Just as the American left has adopted blacks as mascots, so the international left has adopted Palestinians as mascots. In both cases, the actual well-being of the mascots is not the point. Mascots exist to be symbols for others. In all the years when the Arab states controlled the area that Israel took over after the 1967 war, nobody cared what happened to the Palestinians, much less offered them a homeland."

Actually, some of my favorite books are by guys who set out to destroy Christianity once and for all using the best scientific methods, hard evidence, and rigorous research. I.e., not using double standards, special pleadings, cherry picked evidence, or logical fallacies. Yet despite their very best efforts, the evidence drives them towards Christianity.

For example, Josh McDowell, Lee Strobel, and Antony Flew (who spent 50 years leading the atheist assault on Christianity).

Yes, compartmentalizing of the brain is often talked about - where people can hold seemingly contradictory or inconsistent views at the same time, depending on where and how they obtained those views and how they may satisfy the individual emotionally. So on the one hand they may be trained in the demands of the scientific method, and on the other believe in gods, angels, heaven and hell and goodness-knows-what, without any actual evidence whatsoever.

IQ is like the markings on a measuring cup: you still need to fill it with something.
