Even paintings of pigs frighten the cowardly Dutch

Memo to self: Must eat more bacon
"Three paintings depicting pigs have been pre-emptively removed from a hospital in Leerdam because they might offend Muslims.

One patient, not actually himself a Muslim, made a complaint about the paintings because he wanted to avoid Muslims having confrontations with the pigs. The leadership of the healthcare institution, the Linge Polyclinic, thereupon decided to remove the paintings immediately, Algemeen Dagblad newspaper reports.

The artist, Sylvia Bosch, is astounded. "One week earlier, I had an e-mail from the clinic saying that they were getting nice reactions. After a single complaint, they had to be taken away immediately."

The Linge Polyclinic has stated that the pictures were removed because "all visitors must feel comfortable in the institution".

It's like in the insect world when a colony can be invaded and by bio-chemical means made to be slaves of the invaders.

funny thing is that Jews have the same dietary restrictions on pork but have never been offending by pigs or have forced others to follow their anti-pig beliefs.

yeah confused ignorant Yanks stomped the British a little over 200 years ago and the Brits never got over it, but are letting muslim extremists take over on their own home turf.

3:19 AM - Wow what an embarrassingly 5th grade superficial understanding of the American Revolution you have. Read a book!

3:19 This is about the Dutch not the Brits. Keep up!

all the jealousy and envy of the Yanks! how pathetic. Copy success don't destroy it.

Remember WWII? You live and breath freely because of what those Yanks gave. Personally, i think it was a waste of good men, money, and effort.

if it were my hospital I'd complain about the lack of pictures of picks on the wall, say I was offended by that.

Guess we should ban the book and movie "charlotte's web".

If a Christian were to come in and complain about something offensive, they would be ushered out the door.

Sorry Jon, forgot to mention the brave Australian (and New Zealand) forces in WWII.

The Yanks like to jerk in front of a mirror.

The truth of the matter is that the Axis powers would have beat the combined forces of the "Russians, Brits, Canadians and all the other British empire forces, plus the free-forces of other countries" and "Australian (and New Zealand)". In fact the Allies were getting their asses kicked all over Europe until America entered the war. So, while youre right that other countries definitely contributed, you are wrong to think that America wasnt the reason the Allies won.

I agree with 6:52 AM, it's always the Americans that end up having to rescue the world. Without America, Noriega would still be in power, Grenada would be a communist country, South Korea would not exist, Saddam would still be torturing people and the Kurds would not be free as they are today.

And by the way, unlike many European countries, there is no draft in the military. In spite of two wars our country is able to get all the volunteers they need without forcing people to fight, and we give our soldiers benefits that other countries could only dream of.

The Russians would certainly have defeated Hitler because of his incompetent conduction of the war. The belated fear for the US was that Stalin would take over the whole of Europe, plus being forced into direct action by the Japanese (who were also being fought by the european colonies in the east). After WWII, US intervention in europe with the Marshall Plan and bases was to prevent farther Soviet expansion. Hence all was for US advantage and it was only incidental if western europe benifitted - their benefit was to become a market for US products and companies and bases for the US military to get closer to the Soviet block.

Before the US has even entered WWII. Britain had defeated the German invasion and Hitler had already given that up and concentrated on invading Russia. Hitler could continue bombing Britain but that was as meaningless as the US bombing the Vietnamese, and the British had gotten plenty of time to plan the sabotage of any attempted landed invasion.

The Yanks are "such lovers of themselves" - they think they live in the "Promised Land", that their much vaunted Constitution is like a divinely inscribed tablet à la Moses. However the "American Dream" is much like H.C.Andersen's story of the "Emperor's New Clothes" - no matter how bad things are in the US it must be wonderful compared with the rest of the world" - yeah right!

Wow, Booby thinks or implies it was also only americans who fought in the Korean War, and the recent one re Iraq (and suggesting it was just to stop Saddam torturing people and to free the Kurds - yeah right - that was bottom of the list of reasons!
And Grenada was a tiny island anyone could have taken over, even if that was British territory. And how reluctant was the US to help the UK with Argentina's invasion of the Falkland Islands!!

---Please, a few foreign soldiers mean very little. America could have won all those wars without foreign help.

"And Grenada was a tiny island anyone could have taken over, even if that was British territory."

---Yet did any other country in the world cared if Grenada became a communist nation? No. The world didn't care, as usual, it was America who did the job.

"And how reluctant was the US to help the UK with Argentina's invasion of the Falkland Islands!!"

---That's different, the British have a strong military, they didn't need our help to win the Falklands back.

By the way, did you know the British government took over the Queen Mary II and used it as a troop carrier? Isn't that nice, the government takes over a private company and costs them millions of dollars. Is that a democracy for you? I have an idea, how 'bout I come to your house, drink all your booze, eat all your booze, watch all the paperview movies, use your phone to call 1-900 numbers, and then leave you with your house in ruins and huge debts to pay. God save the Queen Marie II from your fascist government.

Wow Booby. So in time of war the government of a country shouldn't commandeer available resources to support the war effort? Does doing so make a government fascist? Don't property-owners have a patriotic duty in time of war. I'm sure the company had some financial compensation plus the honor of serving their country!

The US defeat the Axis powers entirely on their own? Yeah rite - they couldn't even defeat a little backward rural country like Vietnam!

Anonymous said...

"a few foreign soldiers mean very little" - how insulting to all the foreign soldiers who were killed or injured and their families back home. If the US could have managed without them why did they invite them to help, or didn't ask them to stay away.

I think Booby is mistaken in his reference to the new Queen Mary II liner being used already as a troop ship (it was launched in 2004). He is maybe thinking of the earlier Queen Mary liner or the QEII (Queen Elizabeth II) liner.

bobby said...

Ok, it was the RMS Queen Mary that was used in the Falkan war, I was wrong about the name before.

"Wow Booby. So in time of war the government of a country shouldn't commandeer available resources to support the war effort? Does doing so make a government fascist?"

---Are you justifying the illegal internment of Japanese and German people living in our country? Many of them US citizen? Just because it's war doesn't mean our democratic traditions end. The ship was never compensated for the money they could have made transporting civilians. Also, in America I've never seen our Navy turn to Carnival or Royal Caribbean for troop movement.

"Don't property-owners have a patriotic duty in time of war."

---Patriotism doesn't mean involuntary sacrifice. I read stories that when the Soviets occupied northern Poland they sent rich families to prison while using housing their troops in their residences. The soviets don't believe in private property, the Americans do.

"The US defeat the Axis powers entirely on their own? Yeah rite - they couldn't even defeat a little backward rural country like Vietnam!"

---Actually, we could have done it if Nixon had not decided to withdrawn. By the time that war was almost won.

"--Patriotism doesn't mean involuntary sacrifice."

Like the the draft? Selective Service?

Anonymous said...

And that is why the Muslims are making headway. While y'all are arguing over who was the best ally during WWII they are changing your countries. Nice job guys.

Oh and I believe the original snipe was about the Dutch making good Vodka instead of good Gin.

Bobby said...

"Like the the draft? Selective Service?"

---The draft was highly unpopular and unnecessary today. We have an army of VOLUNTEERS, we get people who want to be there. George W. Bush didn't bring back the draft, and if Obama wants to get reelected, he won't bring it back either.

Our military offers excellent benefits, some would say better than the private sector since I've yet to find a job in the private sector that offers free healthcare, pays for your college education, offers you a pension after 20 years of service, offers you free food at the base or free money if you're married and want to live outside the base.

Aside that, the military offers people a meaningful career. So who needs a draft?

Wasn't Nixon an American? - so as a concerted national effort, or non-effort, the USA was defeated by a 3rd-world country like Vietnam!

Anonymous said...

Booby - your arguments are pathetic - comparing the UK government commandeering a Cunard liner as a troop ship with the Soviets imprisoning Polish peoperty-owners and expropriating their homes.
