Conservative organizations call out the FCC on internet regulation
We read:
"The below letter was sent to the FCC regarding their proposed regulation of the internet. Over 150 organizations, bloggers and state lawmakers opposed the regs in the below letter:
We the undersigned, representing millions of American citizens, write in strong opposition to the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) effort to regulate the Internet.
Over the past 25 years, the Internet has flourished in large part due to the extremely limited role that government has played. In less than a decade, the private sector has expanded broadband Internet access to over 95 percent of American households. Since 2004, the price to access the Internet has dropped by 23 percent, while during the same period overall consumer prices have trended upward.
Despite universal acknowledgement that Americans enjoy a free, open, and vibrant Internet, the FCC is relentlessly pursuing a massive regulatory regime that would stifle broadband expansion, create congestion, slow Internet speeds, jeopardize job retention and growth, and lead to higher prices for consumers.

Is anyone really surpised that the Marxist govt. in DC, (and it's Leftist handlers) desperately wants to control the internet? Aside from a few radio shows, it's the only major source of information the Left doesn't control. And if the left is about anything, it's about CONTROL!
Of course, those on the Left also see the internet as a massive, un-tapped, means of generating revenue. If the sheeple of Amerika allow them to control the internet, you can bet your life we'll be paying for every key stroke. And not only will we be paying, but we'll also be sitting at our keyboards wondering which govt. agency is reading our messages.

Good point, but since when does this govt. need justification to do what it wants. They will invent a set of lies, with the MSM's help of course, and create regulations based on those lies. And you can bet they'll do everything in their power to get it done "before" Nov.

What "genuine" justification has there been for any of the liberty-killing laws and regulations this administration has shoved down the throats of the people?
A couple points:
1. Like it or not, it is the porn industry that has led much of the innovation in online commerce, and advanced Web technology we all enjoy today on non-porn sites. Personally, I'd like to see regulation in the form of mandatory "tagging" of sites to provide better filtering. If a site is a porn site, then tag it as such. If I want to view porn, then it gives me the ability to better find it, however if I don't want to see it, it gives me better control over not seeing it. The same would go for other tagged site.
2. Just remember, that it's the bottom line that drives everything. In "the old days" a .com site had to be a company, a .net site had to be related to a network, etc. Once it became profitable to allow anyone to register any domain, that regulation went out the window.

This begs the question what is porn. What a prude may tag as porn, many other people would not.
And the numerous muslims would tag as porn almost anything showing flesh, including a woman's face and hair.
I think the best definition of porn is, would the majority of people be comfortable viewing said site at work in front of his HR personnel, in front of his children, his wife, or his spiritual leader?
