Women appearing on Sesame Street must not have breasts

Or so it seems. Kids can see a lot more on most beaches
"In what is sure to be a professional first, singer Katy Perry's breasts appear to have got in the way of a television career. The US pop star has become the latest celebrity to film a segment for children's show Sesame Street, re-recording her 2009 chart hit Hot 'N Cold with new, child-friendly lyrics.

The two minute clip, which is yet to go to air and features Perry chasing around puppet favourite Elmo, was posted on YouTube on Monday and is already nudging 1 million views.

And while Perry's excruciatingly hammy acting has made her the butt of internet jokes all week, it seems millions of children will be spared her performance following complaints from parents over her "inappropriate" cleavage-baring outfit.

Sesame Street producers have decided to pull the song from its scheduled New Year's Eve episode in response, celebrity website TMZ has reported.

The clip and the reported decision to can it has sparked debate online, with close to 6,000 comments on Sesame Street's official YouTube channel - many of them accusing program-makers of an overreaction.

The New York Magazine described the decision as "a rather harsh reaction, considering that her scene partner Elmo wasn't wearing anything at all."

Video at link. Her outfit appears perfectly modest to me. She's not a Muslim, after all -- not yet anyway

This should come as no surprise when you remember why shows like this were created in the first place. Their goal is to detatch children from the realities of life in the real world. Children are encouraged (trained?) to believe they actually live in the fake, leftist utopia that shows like this create for them.

Of course, the cute characters are not around when these kids grow up and have to face lifes realities, like the rest of us. That's usually when the drug dealers take over.

Next up, exorcising memories of being breastfed... Ridicule is the best defense against this stupidity.

She's wearing a freakin teddy. That crap has no place on a children's show. People wonder why 7 year old girls want to dress like hoochies, but think there is no problem with this. As for facing realities, they should be gradually introduced to children. Sesame street is for preschoolers for God's sake! They need ABCs and 123s and actions have consequences. That is enough reality at that age.

No overt sexual problem there.

I watched the clip before the fuss broke out and didn't notice anything particularly bothersome (apart from the corniness).
After the fuss I guess I can see that the outfit is not particularly modest - but nor is it terribly immodest by today's standards. Indeed I thought it looked like what I believe it is meant to be - a dress-up costume.

uh, breast feeding is another of those things the left wants to get rid of.
"Formula" all the way, that breast feeding is unnatural and bad for the development of the child (or so they claim).

Katy Perry is known for having great boobs and (IMHO) forgettable songs. Why was she even invited on? What were they expecting? Sandy Duncan?
