No freedom to discuss scientific questions?

Even the Warmists don't go this far:
"If you are at all concerned about government intimidation of its own citizens, you’ll want to keep your eye on Charlestown city government.

Charlestown, by way of the Board of Public Works, recently threatened to sue Citizens for Better Government, a local organization that placed an advertisement in a local weekly paper, The Leader.

This ad listed several points about manganese in water systems. After a few minutes on Google, I found a lot of information about manganese and, like many things humans ingest these days, opinions differ on what is considered safe. Just the fact that the effects of manganese are still being studied is enough to merit this as a valid topic to bring to people.

But Charlestown government didn’t think so and they threatened to sue. How did this government arrive at that decision? What thought process did officials use to conclude that they should use taxpayer funds to threaten a group of citizens who decided to share information about an important issue?

An interesting movie on the discouragement of scientific discussion is "EXPELLED" produced by Ben Stein. There is a little bit of an agenda to it, but my impression was that the main thrust of the movie/documentary was that all ideas should be at least discussed not thrown away out of hand, but in fact the scientific community isn't allowing discussion beyond the party line.

This doesn't really have anything to do with water, regardless of what may or may not be in it. This is a local govt. taking a cue from the federal govt. and trying to exert control over it's citizens, and their rights. Yes, as with DC, it's all about, CONTROL! And if the people remain brain-dead and asleep, it will not only continue, but increase.

This is how you treat a herd of domestic animals, not a constituency of fellow human beings, which says much.

/Bruce Chatwin, R.I.P, you were right about this.

Time to abolish public works departments and put their work out to tender. Public works is not the core business of local government nor should it be since they don't have the expertise for it. At least if it is privatised you will have some form of accountability (providing you can prevent local council corruption).

warmists threaten to kill those who don't agree with them.
They call for kangaroo courts where those opposing their agenda are sentenced to "reeducation camps", which is the communist name for death camps.

"Time to abolish public works departments and put their work out to tender."

To do so would violate affirmative action and diversity standards, which are slowly and quietly becoming the de-facto law-of-the-land. The majority of the govt. workforce, which is black and hired only because of the two above mentioned reasons, would then go back on taxpayer handouts. And because of that, you would see unemployement handouts go to 300 weeks, which of course, still wouldn't be enough.

You will live to see the day when you will hear cries of, "UNLIMITED UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS ARE MY RIGHT!"
