Being anti-government does not make you a conservative

Just about the only thing in the ravings of the Arizona assassin that the Left have been able to seize on as being conservative is that he was "anti-government".

But, in their confused way, Leftists (particularly the more extreme ones) are often anti-government too. Most of the support for Julian Assange of Wikileaks fame, for instance, has come from the Left. And the far Left is certainly disgusted with the Obama administration.

And conservatives are not anti-government anyway. Unlike libertarians, they are strongly supportive of some government activities (defense etc.). They want limited government, not no government.

The baseless and totally unfounded accusations made by the left (especially the leftist media) of a "right-wing" political motive in the AZ. tragedy is simply one of their oldest, and most effective, tactics. Keep your enemies on the defensive! The left knows that in the court of public opinion, anyone defending themselves, even from obvious lies, gives the appearance of being guilty. To the usually weak and mindless public, only a guilty person defends themselves. This is an old trick of the Left, yet still very effective because those on the Right just don't get it.

And, (if) the public should wake-up and blame the Left, and their media, for this shameless politicizing of a genuine tragedy, the Left will simply blame the Right for doing it. As usual.

The media keeps claiming that the tea parties are anti-government.

We’re not anti-government.

We’re anti-BIG government. We’re anti-oppressive government. We’re anti-out-of-control government.

They are the fascists or communists. They want big government. They want to control it. That’s who’s anti-government.

Or at least the government the founders inteded us to have!

Only anarchists are anti-government.

Better to view govt more like a campfire: keep it small, keep it confined, and keep an eye on it.

Right now, we have a forest fire, fanned by fools, but that is changing.

Perhaps I should call myself, anti-big government.

Here's my latest on the attacks against Palin by so-called "Jewish" leaders.

Since when are Libertarians NON Government? Libertarian views on constitutionally limited government are most in line with Tea Party ideologies. Libertarians want the Federal government to abide by the constitution, and stay out of our lives.

Well said Trauncher, and also correct. Thanks to the Marxist-in-Chief and his hand-picked, radical, anti-American administration, we ALL want to see this government go, including his radical left-wing base, albeit for very different reasons.

We are quickly approaching the time (and the conditions) when tens-of-Millions of real Americans might march on DC. This time they'll be carrying ropes and lighted torches!

I didn't say libertarians were "no-government," that's anarchism.

except for abortion rights, of course.

"except for abortion rights, of course."

---Tell a woman to have a baby and then she'll tell you to give her welfare and food stamps.

By the way, there ARE pro-life libertarians who believe abortion violates the rights of the individual, don't assume we all think alike about everything.

PIL, you say you want the government to stay out of your life. Fine. What is your exception list?

Abortion was a simple example where right wing hypocrisy often shines.

You correctly pointed out that different people have different thoughts and may not exactly fit into a specified niche. The amount of government in our lives is a matter of degree. Where is is line drawn?

Abortion is the great example where LEFT WING hypocrisy shows. They love to claim they are all for the weak, the helpless and the downtrodden but have a serious defect between their ears when it comes to recognizing the same.
