Anger as British schools ban Gideon Bibles to avoid upsetting other faiths

We read:
"The Gideons have become famed for handing out signature red Bibles to young children during school assemblies. But they have been told to stay away from some classes because it may spark complaints from different faiths.

Abbot Beyne School and Paget High School near Burton On Trent in Staffordshire have made the controversial ban. Maggie Tate, deputy head teacher of Abbot Beyne, said: 'The reason we stopped the Gideons coming in is that we are a comprehensive multi-faith school. We felt it was inappropriate to allow one faith group to distribute material in school.'

Headteacher at Paget High School in Branston, Don Smith, also cited multiculturalism as the reason behind the decision to abolish the tradition.

The decision has caused outrage among Christians, who have accused the schools of trying to silence Christianity. Gideons supporter Barry Martin said: 'We live in a Christian country. I think that if the Gideons want to offer Bibles to children then they should be allowed to do so.

'Banning them is not right because these schools are trying to silence Christianity and we must fight to defend it. Christians make this world a better place.'

Schools should not be a battle-ground of competing religions each trying to influence the children. If the Gideons are allowed to proselytize in schools, then other religions and denominations and cults of all kinds can claim equal treatment.

Except, of course, Christianity in the name of the Church of England is the State religion with the queen being head of the church as well as head of State.

Although the way things are going it will soon be the Mosque of England.

With the last two stories, is anybody else starting to notice a pattern?

The Church of England has had a very privileged position for long enough, so can't really complain.

While i dislike "anyone" pushing their religious beliefs on me, i think the excuse being given by the school is simply a cover. We all know that Britain is fast becoming another radical Muslim outpost, and, with the blessing of the govt. and the church of England. And we've all seen examples of how the Brits are so fearful of offending Muslims in any way. That, i believe, is what's really behind this. That, and the ongoing anti-Christian mood being pushed by radical Islam and their non-Muslim supporters.

But there is a ray of hope here, albeit a rare and slight one. For the first time that i'm aware of, the British people have finally become "outraged", even though it's probably too late for them to save their country from Muslimization.

I remember receiving a Gideons New Testament when I was a child in primary school and thought little of it except that it was a rather thoughtful gift.
I certainly would not have minded if someone had come and handed out Korans (nor would my parents I suspect, we had one in our home and I went to a Uniting Church scripture class in primary school although we were not of that 'denomination').
Why the ruckus?

Yes, copies of the original "holy books" are educational to obtain. (I was given a copy of the Book of Mormon which was interesting to look at). Hopefully the school children are not also given propaganda material, or in any way over-influenced by any particular pro-active group.
