US Senate Judiciary Committee debates Internet censorship bill
Broadcasting & Cable

We read:
"The forces massed to push the Stop Online Piracy Act, and those looking to block or modify it met in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. ...

The debate is over what new powers the government, copyright owners and Internet service providers should be given to combat rogue web sites, both in the U.S. and abroad."

This one is scary. I think the ruling class here is looking to nip the internet influence in the bud so it can't be used as it was in Egypt and elsewhere. They of course do this in the name of protecting us from ourselves. There are so many aspects of this it is hard to comment on but we MUST keep the government out of ruling the internet.

We lack the will and backbone to stop the govt. from over-ruling us, how could we stop them from doing it to the internet?

The elected, lying crooks smell the people's weakness like dogs smell fear. And that smell does nothing but drive them to be more aggressive. The American people are starting to see just what their weakness, misguided tolerance, and gullibility have cost them. And it's nothing compared to what it will cost them in the near future.

The internet has always been seen as a plum waiting to be picked. The government criminals were simply waiting for that plum to ripen. And now, that cities and states around the country are totally broke from all the waste, stealing, and giving away they've been doing with our money, now they are looking at the internet like a hungry wolf looks at fresh meat. It's simply a question of when and how much, to start with that is.
