Must not convey that you find Indian food unpleasant

In a Deepavali-related video by TheSmartLocal, titled “Singaporeans Try: Indian snacks”, its staff were shown making faces while trying “snacks that many of our Indian friends know and love”.

Singaporean poet Marc Nair, who was recently conferred the Young Artist Award, called the video “racist, reductive and revolting” on his Facebook page. “Please don’t foist your ignorance and squeamish responses on the rest of us,” he wrote. Playwright Joel Bertrand Tan lambasted the site for its close-mindedness, calling it “horrible”.

Some Indian snacks are rather strange to non-Indians.  I personally enjoy them all.  But everyone has their own tastes so why not say what they like? Overall, Indian food is a great success worldwide so Indians can be proud of their cuisine while accepting that not everyone will like all of it.

Some foods are very unpleasant to people who are not accustomed to them.

Personally I don't like Indian food. I don't like curry and I especially don't like that milky sickly sweet tea they drink. But what I find amusing about lefties is that they make a show of enjoying or saying they enjoy every foreign food there is. There is no foreign food they will admit to disliking. And they always subtly infer that someone who does not like foreign food is not as culturally elevated as themselves, and perhaps is a little "racist". But now that accusing someone of "cultural appropriation" has become one of the latest leftist ways to deride people, then it is always easy to respond to their inferences of being culturally inferior or racist for not enjoying foreign food by simply asking them what "cultural appropriation" is. Leftism is full of contradictions, you only have to pair them up and collect them, and you can make lefties feel awkward whenever you want to.
